Poker Home Games: the free poker tournament timer for home games and clubs

Categories : Blog , Partners

Official partner of Cartes Production, it is the tool we recommend for running the table once it has been kitted out. Here is what it does, who it is for and which plan to choose.

What is Poker Home Games?

Poker Home Games is a French web app for poker tournament management. It brings together in a single tool the blinds timer, player management, seat draw, table balancing, leagues and, for clubs and associations, membership management. There is nothing to download: everything runs from app.pokerhomegames.app on a computer, tablet or smartphone. The tool is free for up to 6 players, with no commitment beyond that.

A poker timer worthy of a live tournament

The heart of the tool is the tournament clock. It shows the current level, blinds and ante, time remaining and the next level, just like the screens at the big festivals. It goes well beyond a simple countdown:

  • Average stack calculated in real time at every elimination or rebuy.
  • Dynamic prize pool updated automatically as entries come in.
  • Countdown to the break and to the end of late registration.
  • Customisation: club logo, background, timer colours and font.

TV display and control from your phone

The timer runs on a computer, switches to full screen and is cast to the television or a projector via HDMI, Chromecast or AirPlay. The organiser stays in control from their phone: pause, next level, eliminated players, seat moves and table balancing. No more leaving the table to go and touch the computer.

Every tournament format

PHG handles the formats found in home games and clubs alike:

  • Freezeout: a single entry, out as soon as you run out of chips.
  • Re-entry, rebuys and add-ons: the prize pool and average stack recalculate themselves.
  • Fixed, progressive or mystery bounty: bounties on players' heads, including the hugely popular mystery bounty format.
  • Tables of 2 to 10 players, with a separate final table size if needed.

An important point for private games: the free mode hides any mention of money. The timer only shows what is needed to run the tournament (levels, chips, players remaining), with no buy-in or prize pool in euros. It is the right setting for evenings with friends and prize tournaments.

The blinds structure generator

Building a coherent blinds structure is where most organisers go wrong: levels that are too long, a tournament that drags on until 3 a.m., or on the contrary stacks that are too short from the very first hour. The PHG generator calculates a structure from the desired playing time and the expected number of players. You then adjust the levels, breaks and end of late registration, and save your favourite structures to reuse from one evening to the next.

The structure depends directly on your chip set: the number of chips, their values and their colours determine the starting stack and the possible blind levels. If you are starting from scratch, our range of poker chips covers every format, from the 300-chip case for 6 players to club sets of 1,000 chips and more.

Seat draw, balancing and multiple tables

As soon as you go beyond one table, managing seats becomes the real headache. PHG takes care of it:

  • Random seat draw at the start of the tournament.
  • Automatic table balancing as players are eliminated, and table breaking when the number of players allows it.
  • Public seating plan with Guest / Member badges for clubs.
  • Manual moves always possible so you stay in control.

For poker clubs and associations

This is where PHG stands out from the usual free timers: the tool includes the modules an association needs to run a full season.

Prize payouts

Club tournaments are often played for prizes: vouchers, equipment, tickets to live tournaments. The prize payout mode displays the actual prizes on screen rather than amounts in euros.

Seasonal leagues

Automatic points calculation across several tournaments, jokers (only the best N results count), bonus points and a public leaderboard shareable by link, without players needing to create an account. Leagues work with standard tournaments as well as Sit-and-Go sessions.

Multi Sit-and-Go

Several Sit-and-Gos running in parallel on a shared timer, each table managing its own players, eliminations and ranking. Results export to an SnG league with a customisable points grid, or to CSV.

My schedule and player account

Organisation starts before the big day. The My schedule module creates online pre-registration pages with approval and a waiting list. Every player gets a free account with a personal QR code: on tournament night, a single scan confirms their attendance, and the field is imported into the tournament in one click.

My club module: member directory of a poker club

My club, flights and simultaneous tournaments

The My club module manages the life of the association: public presentation page, membership requests, seasons and renewals, directory with membership fees and CSV export, and printable membership cards with QR code. For big events, PHG also handles flight tournaments (Day 1A, Day 1B, qualified stacks and Day 2) and up to 3 simultaneous tournaments, each with its own timer and screen.

The equipment to go with it

A good timer will not make up for a wobbly table or dog-eared cards. For an evening that feels like a real tournament:

  • Chips: allow around 50 chips per player for a freezeout, more with rebuys. See poker chips and chip cases.
  • The table: a folding table for 8 to 10 players stores away against a wall and turns the living room into a tournament hall. See poker tables.
  • The mat: the most economical way to equip an existing table. See poker mats.
